NEW YORK FASHION WEEK RECAP – DAY 1
Back from my first whirlwind of New York Fashion Week! I can’t even begin to explain all the time and prep that went into attending. Starting back in June I began spending up to 7 hours each day reaching out to contacts, securing sponsorships, and planning this NYFW trip that went by in a blink of an eye.
I for sure hit the jack pot with these ladies, they are GEMS! I loved them before our trip, and now that it has come and gone, I love them even more. Good, honest, kind hearted humans who wish the best for others-are hard to come by, and these girls are 4 of the best! I have been missing them the past few days, and am secretly plotting to get them all to move by me 🙂
I got in late Friday night with Lauren Parry, and checked into our Hotel at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown World Trade Center. We had a corner room with floor to ceiling windows and spent a good amount of time that first night just staring in awe out into the lit up city view!
Saturday was my first day at NYFW and it was jam packed with a full schedule. We all woke up bright and early and got a blow out at DryBar, then raced back to the hotel to finish getting ready. Side-note, if you have never treated yourself to a blowout, carve time out this week and do it! Only takes about 40 mins and is so relaxing, plus mine usually last 5-7 days when I use my favorite Dry Shampoo.
Our first stop was Rebecca Minkoff, hence the uh-mazing Rebecca Minkoff Studded Booties I am wearing. This brand is most commonly known for it’s handbags and accessories, so at the afterparty there was a leather embossing station-so cool!
Next up was back stage at the TIBI Show with Aveda. They were offering hair services that ranged from cut & color to styling and touch ups. Since I had just gotten my hair done a few hours before, I oped out of that offer, but do love their hair care products!
The Banana Republic Presentation was that afternoon. This one is awesome because it is open to the public and anyone can go! Plus it was nice to see classic pieces that I could actually shop/afford.
I can’t even remember what we did for lunch or breakfast that day, probably starved. Or ate like 3 Cliff Bars.
Anyways, in the mid afternoon we all had a photoshoot with Paige Sovic at and around the NoMo Soho. The cobblestone streets made me feel like I was on part of some charming movie set, and not really in the middle of Manhattan. She was a pleasure to shoot this Tracy Reese Dress with!
This day was a favorite of mine, because not only was it the first day of NYFW of me, but also because there were two parties in the evening that I got to see a TON of my instagram/blogger friends at!
The first one being the LIKEtoKNOW.it Rooftop Party held at La Sierra in Chelsea. It is so surreal to met friends face to face that you have been friends with online for the very first time! It’s like I know you and we chat all day everyday, and here we are together in the flesh at last!
We capped the night off by attending the Lulu’s Style Studio party. This place was set up so gorgeous! It was so much fun to be able to view new collection items from Lulu’s and hand pick what we wanted to be gift right off the mannequin. Didn’t think I would ever do that!
If you saw me on this first day, chances are that I was wearing this stunning lace Tracy Reese dress! You know I can’t resist lace, plus this one was puffy shoulders! It is currently on sale for 60% off. Since I knew I was going to literally be on my feet all day long, I wore these super comfortable Rebecca Minkoff Studded Booties! I wish they came in other colors so I could buy more another pair, I love them so much. My bag on the first day was packed with a lot of stuff, so I wore this Valentino Studded one! Not only is it a classic and goes great with my look, but it is well made and my new day to day bag. Lastly, no look is complete without some bling! These brand new Baublebar Octavia Hoop Earrings, give off the perfect amount of sparkle and are lightweight!
