SHOP THIS PALM SPRINGS WEEKEND LOOK:
Each year we do a few low key weekend getaways, one is always Palm Springs! This one is our kids favorite! The drive from our place is only about two hours, and we spend the whole weekend swimming.
While I do not consider myself a “pro” at knowing everything about Palm Springs, I can share our tips, and what we like to do when we visit! This is a trip we always do with the kids because it is close and we save the longer travel distentions for just Beau and I.
The Best Things to Do During your Palm Springs Weekend:
Don’t stay IN Palm Springs. Yeah, confusing right? In my own opinion, hotel options IN Palm Springs are gross, run-down, yucky, and just no. We always stay about 10-15 minutes way in either Palm Desert or Indian Wells (if you know you know). These neighborhoods are newer, cleaner, safer, and you can just instantly tell as you are driving up the main street you want to be in this area verses the latter.
The desert gets HOT. As in like 120 degrees hot. We love staying at places that have amazing pools, fun splash areas for kids, and bonus points if there is a lazy river or water slide! Our two current favorite places to stay are the Marriott Shadow Ridge and the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort. Both of these places are super family friendly, have good pool food, and you can get rooms with kitchens in them.
Just because we don’t stay in Palm Springs doesn’t mean we stay out of Palm Springs. We love to walk Historic Downtown Palm Springs, and take in the art and enjoy farmer’s market on Thursday night’s.
We LOVE to take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway way up into the San Jacino Mountains. The Tram is glass and the views on the way up and down are insane! It always amazes me how you go from hot desert to lush forest! If you go make sure to bring a sweater, snacks, and water for hiking.
The Living Desert Zoo is amazing, and a great activity to do in the morning before it gets hot. The zoo often closes around lunch time (because of the heat) so make sure you check the hours. It is a great way to break up the day with the kids before you spend the rest of the time at the pool.
My favorite activity is the Desert Hills Premium Outlets! These aren’t just your everyday Gap outlets, we are talking high end stores: Gucci, YSL, Prada, etc.
I wish I had a list of all the great restaurants, but to be honest we have been let down so many times. The last few times we have been we have just gone to Cheesecake Factory, and PF Changs (which we always know will be good). I asked for some suggestions on IG Stories and you guys are already coming in with ideas!
Here is what people are suggesting so far:
WHERE TO EAT IN PALM SPRINGS:
- Bills Pizza
- Rooster And The Pig
