SHOP THIS CUTE SUMMER DATE NIGHT OUTFIT:
Even though I may look like I am all ready for a date night, it has been quite the opposite over here!
I figured it was over due time for a little life update! No big crazy news, like last summer when I surprised all of you with a new baby! This summer just has taken its toll on me. If any of you are mothers or caretakers then I am sure you already know how draining it is having kids home all day during the summer.
I always try my best to have the kids each involved in some sort of sport, class, private tutoring, etc and when summer happens all of that comes to a stand still. Leaving me be the ultimate entertainer, and trying each and everyday to: study, have active time, explore a new park, have them learn something new, etc etc etc. All while keeping that normal life of the house, food, laundry, myself, Nina’s naps, and not to mention my blog all running. Summer can be great, but it can also be hard.
Every summer we typically take a family trip, but this summer we skipped that vacation. We knew sometime during the summer we would be moving, but since we weren’t sure on the date we couldn’t really plan a trip.
We have been looking for a new house since March and it has been exhausting to say the least. Everyday we would be actively looking, and the housing market where we live is not only expensive, but there are a lot of shit places for an insane amount of money.
My goal was to be moved by the beginning of summer so we could be settled, and have the kids all set for a new school. All of a sudden July rolls around and I start panicking because we have found ZERO good leads. Enter mega panic mode. We decided on this one house that seemed to check all of the boxes: size, yard, walking distance to school. But the people who had lived in it thrashed it big time. Even though it was only 2 years old it needed lots of dry wall work, window and door replacements, and so so many other little things. We would only take it if all of the repairs were made before we moved in, but they wanted close to 12k in cash to begin repairs, and it was crazy to me because I don’t want to pay for other people’s nasty livings. So back to the drawing board.
Then luckily we got word on this brand new build that hadn’t even hit the market yet! Since no one (minus the construction peeps) had seen the final result of the house I was a little nervous that I would be wasting my time (babysitter for the kids + Beau skipping part of a workday). IT ENDED UP BEING PERFECT. This new place of ours has everything we were looking for: new top rated school, hardwood floors, open space concept, parks and pools, big kitchen, big bathrooms, on and on. The crazy part was that we had to jump on it and take it, so we technically got the keys a week later!
I am not going to lie, it was really stressful getting our whole lives packed up and moved. It always is. But the one thing I always look forward to is going through every drawer and purging! The ‘reward’ for me was getting a blank and empty house to place everything back in it’s correct spot, organize it all by type/color/texture (because I am a OCD type A psycho) and it is starting to feel SO much better.
The new place isn’t much yet, we got rid of a bunch of furniture and need lots of new stuff, but I can’t wait to share with you guys updates, and show off each completed room when the time comes.
