A couple of weeks ago I got to go on a quick girls trip to wine country in Sonoma County. It was such a blast, and I am so happy I was able to make it.
While posting stories there, I got lots of DM’s from you ladies asking me questions ranging from, why I was there, who I was with, what wineries we were at, and even outfit details (shocking I know!). One of the most popular DMs I got was just utter confusion on why I wasn’t drinking, or why I would even be there if I don’t drink. I had no idea me being in a certain geolocation would blow up my inbox like it did! I quickly learned that you guys do pay attention and if I ever do drink, or go against my word, you will for sure call me on my shit. So thanks for keeping me in line!
Our girls weekend was hosted by the incredible women who run Lola & Ivy, a social media management and public relations firm for bloggers + influencers. I have been working with Lola & Ivy for almost a year now, and love them so much! It meant a lot to me that they to the work of planning this weekend for all of the girls they represent. I truly did love getting to meet and be around such strong and kind women all weekend! Plus it was an added bonus to be able to meet some of their pretty faces in real life and not just behind a screen. Spoiler alert–all of them are even better in person! Check out their full client list here.
It was my first time in Wine Country and we could not have stayed at a cuter place! I fell in love with Hotel Trio Healdsburg. This brand new hotel is located right smack in the middle of wine country, and right next to the picturesque downtown Healdsburg. It was super convenient that Hotel Trio had shuttles running all day from the hotel to different wineries or downtown. If you haven’t been able to tell, I am kind of picky about accommodations while traveling. I loved that Hotel Trio has a clean modern, design. As well as an incredible free breakfast buffet every morning, soft fluffy bedding, full kitchens in hotel suits, and the most helpful and friendly staff! Just in case you missed my Instagram stories, Lauren and I took full advantage of their guest service robot and had it bring us ice to our room!
Our first evening there we visited Matrix Winery. I would go into detail about the winery tasting and wine stuffs, but as mentioned I do not drink so I an extremely uneducated…sorry! I can tell you that this place was super cute, and it was the perfect spot for a small party or fun girls together! It had such pretty views of the river, and on a non rainy day I bet it would be so nice to spend time on their patio.
For dinner we went to Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar (you know I cannot resist a good lobster roll). After my 30 years of life on earth I gave into peer pressure I finally tried oysters…and guess what?! They’re not too bad. We basically tried everything on the menu and each dish was better than the next! My favorites were the tuna, melted cheese dish, and the warm bourbon financier.
Saturday all of us woke up ready for a fun filled day packed with visiting a couple of wineries, outfit shoots, good food, lots of laughs, and driving around in a bus to fit all of us and our outfits. Let me just say that driver was so nice and kind and extremely confused why I took a suitcase full of clothes with me on a day of wine tastings. He even told me that he has seen some crazy stuff being a driver in wine country, but has never seen a girl change her outfit every 15 minutes! But, in my defense I wasn’t drinking and had pretty scenery and the fab photographer Jen with us so why not take advantage of that and shoot a bunch of looks?!
MacRostie Winery is beyond breathtaking! It is so gorgeous! From the actual vineyards to the tasting areas, every single detail is well thought out. I wanted to move in! I was extremely impressed with the staff at MacRostie. Myself along with a few others did not drink that day and they were so sweet and accommodating. I also have to give them props for being dog friendly, because puppies are cute and it’s just a better day when they are around.
It was such a pleasure to sip on sparkling water, munch on a delish charcuterie board, and chat with friends! I already want to go back.
For lunch we hit up this rustic general store for sandwiches. I am a HUGE sandwich fan, however this place really made me realize that even though we were still in California, it was basically like a different state. It is funny how different regions just have different paces of life. Neither one is better than another, just really made me realize how big of a state California really truly is. They did have bomb cookies though, so I would for sure go back for that.
After our bellies were full of sandwiches, jerky, and cookies we continued onto our last winery- J Vineyards and Winery. For the thousandth time I do not know much, but this place seemed like a perfect place to go with your girlfriends, mom, etc because they had a bubble room! A bubble room is were you only sparkling wines are served and paired with complimentary foods for tastings. This room was so cute too! I loved the pink chairs.
We capped off the night all feasting on some super yummy Italian food in the cutest setting in downtown Healdsburg (sorry totally don’t even remember the name of the place!). I learned a few things while on this trip.
- you do not have to drink to enjoy wine country! I had a great time with my diet coke, sparkling water, and cheeses.
- Sonoma Country is gorgeous! I am so glad I visited, downtown area is just charming!
- Bloggers are real human people! Even though I am one, it is still easy for me to get caught up in the vain game, and to feel the need to chase perfectionism. It was refreshing to meet these girls face to face, they are even more beautiful real humans in real life.
- Healdsburg does not believe in Diet Coke, and only has selves full of regular Coke, so pack your own.
- I am grateful to have a job that allows me the opportunity to try new things that I normally would not, and feel blessed to work with a group of inspiring women.
